My name is Nora, and I’m from Missour, a small village in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. My love for cooking began at a young age, growing up in a multi-generational home where women gathered daily to prepare large, healthy meals. Cooking was our way of showing love, nurturing one another, and celebrating life. Whether it was picking olives from my grandfather’s farm or making couscous from scratch, food was at the heart of everything we did. It wasn’t just about eating—it was about creating memories, fostering community, and carrying forward our ancestral traditions.
At 20, I moved to Istanbul, a city full of life and diversity. Feeling like a little village girl in a vast, cosmopolitan world, I turned to what I knew best—cooking. I started teaching Moroccan cooking classes as a way to not only earn a living but also make friends and share the rich culinary traditions of my homeland. Through food, I found connection. I discovered that storytelling was as much a part of cooking as the spices and ingredients themselves. Sharing the stories behind our dishes became my way of bringing people from different cultures and backgrounds together, and I knew then that this was my calling.
In Morocco, food holds a deep spiritual significance. I was raised in a world where herbs and spices were more than just flavor—they were medicine. We relied on nature’s ingredients for healing, both physically and spiritually. My grandmother had a sacred brass box filled with herbs that she used to create dishes with the power to comfort and heal. I carry that wisdom with me today, using Moroccan cuisine not just to feed the body, but to nurture the soul. Every dish tells a story, and every ingredient has a purpose.
When I moved to the U.S. in 2022, I found myself caught up in the hustle and bustle of modern life, but the wisdom I had learned from my grandmother and mother never left me. That’s why I founded CASA TANGER—to bring people back to the essence of food, community, and healing. Through my cooking classes and catering services, I blend Moroccan hospitality, storytelling, and the healing traditions I’ve inherited to create a truly unique experience.
At CASA TANGER, cooking is more than just preparing a meal—it’s about connecting with the spirit of the food, sharing stories, and fostering community. My guiding principle is rooted in ‘Niyya,’ pure intention, and my motto is always “good for all, harm to none.” I believe that when we cook with love and pure intention, we create something magical—something that can uplift and transform lives.
So when you join me for a meal or a class, know that you’re not just learning a recipe—you’re becoming part of a tradition that goes back centuries. You’re connecting with a culture that believes in the power of food to heal, to unite, and to nourish both body and soul. Welcome to CASA TANGER. Let’s share a meal and a story together.
